SARDA Ag Research (SARDA) began a water quality monitoring program in 2011, with the assistance of
Aquality Environmental Consulting Ltd (Aquality). SARDA chose sample locations based on their proximity
to agricultural lands, use as drinking water intakes, and their likelihood of exposure to terrestrial inputs.

Water Quality Sampling Program Summary – 2022

In 2022, sampling occurred in the late fall (May 30) and again in the fall (October 31). Both sets of samples collected were analyzed for nutrients, bacteria, herbicides and pesticides, and metals.

In 2021, sampling occurred in the early summer (June 21) after the spraying of pre-emergent herbicides on croplands, and again in the fall (October 21) following crop harvest. For both sets of samples, samples were analyzed for nutrients, bacteria, herbicides and pesticides, and metals.

Semi-annual water sampling continued in 2020. Sampling occurred in the late spring to early summer (June 10) after the spraying of pre-emergent herbicides on croplands, and again in late summer to early fall (October 27) following harvest.
