- Job Description: We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated people to join our research team this summer with conducting applied research & extension activities, collecting data and maintaining plots. Some duties may include: – establish, manage & collect data from research plots (packaging seed, blending fertilizer, mixing pesticides, etc.) – operation of equipment – enter and reviewing data – maintain plots (mowing and hand weeding) – collecting plot data (seedling counts, plant heights, crop biomass weights, etc.) – Maintain data integrity throughout the season. **Please note: Having severe allergies to dust and pollens or having asthma may severely limit your ability to work effectively in this position.** We are able to be flexible with a start and end date. - Job Qualifications: – Strong work ethic, ability to show up on time and work well with others on a team are required. – Returning to post-secondary education may be required. – Basic math skills needed. The following skills would be an asset: – Ability to operate various farm-related equipment. – An interest in agriculture. – Ability to work in MS Excel. – Excellent inter-personal skills, able to work in group & one-on-one settings with other staff. – Ability to work long hours outside during spring season (200 + hours during May).
